New Journal Announcement: The Saudi Journal of Philosophical Studies

Dear colleagues and fellow philosophers,

I would like to announce the establishment of a new journal in philosophy based in the Arab world: The Saudi Journal of Philosophical Studies, published twice annually, of which I am the Editor-in-Chief. The journal has recently published its second issue, and we are now working on the third. The journal publishes original essays in Arabic, English, and French (some of the essays in English and French are translated in the same issue into Arabic). It also publishes book reviews and introductory essays that discuss and explain a crucial philosophical concept or field (area) in philosophy (e.g., an essay in the second issue by Graham Oppy on the analytic philosophy of religion). Although its audience is currently mostly in the Arab world, we hope to turn it into an international journal soon enough. Hence this announcement.

Submission guidelines: The essays should be in Arabic, English, or French, and should not have been published elsewhere, with a word count between 8,000 and 12,000 (slightly shorter essays are acceptable). On a separate page, please include the author’s name, title, institutional affiliation, and email address. On a separate page please include an abstract of the paper of no more than 150 words and a list of keywords. The abstract should contain the conclusion of the paper and an outline of its argument. All essays should be submitted at sjps@manaa.net. The essays that are desk-accepted are blind refereed by two referees and a third if the first two submit divergent verdicts.

Please (1) share this post and spread the word about the journal; (2) submit essays and encourage your friends to submit essays to the journal; and (3) feel free to contact me with suggestions of books to review and of reviewers for the books.
