The American Philosophical Association is pleased to announce that Dr. Peter J. Graham (University of California, Riverside) has been awarded the 2018–2019 Edinburgh Fellowship. The APA fellow has a private office in the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities at the University of Edinburgh, is a member of the Institute’s lively research community, and has full borrowing rights at Edinburgh University Library.
Sara Bernstein (University of Notre Dame), the chair of the selection committee said, “The research that Professor Graham intends to pursue at Edinburgh addresses questions at the intersection of ethics and epistemology about reasons, norms, and the nature of epistemic accomplishment. His topics, interdisciplinary approach, and established record of research in Edinburgh’s areas of strength are a fine fit for the Edinburgh Institute for Advanced Study.”
Dr. Graham is professor of philosophy and linguistics in the department of philosophy and the program in linguistics at the University of California, Riverside (UCR), and associate dean for arts and humanities in the college of humanities, arts, and social sciences; associate editor of the Journal of the American Philosophical Association; chair of the APA committee on international cooperation; member of the APA board of officers; and director of the epistemology and philosophy of psychology workshop at UCR. His current research interests focus on the role that functional explanations in perceptual psychology, reasoning, and the flow of information through communication explain the nature of knowledge.
