Michelle Crabb is the IT and Operations Coordinator for the APA. She has a Bachelor’s of Information Technology from Armstrong Atlantic State University (now Georgia Southern) with a minor in Writing. What do you do at the APA?
I’ve been with the APA since 2016, and my position has steadily evolved throughout the past few years. I manage a lot of our secondary information systems like the Affiliated Group System, The UPDirectory, and Undergraduate Clubs in Philosophy. I handle the day-to-day technological and supply needs of the administrative office. Lastly, I manage the APA audio-visual equipment at meetings and the shipment of our five large meeting crates.
What is your favorite part of your job?
The best part of this job is getting to go to every APA divisional meeting! I love flying and the adventure it holds. I’ve always been a wandering soul at heart, so I am thankful I get to see new places, sights, and meet different people. Stop by Registration and say hello!
What do you like to do outside work?
I enjoy painting. It is my happy place. Beaches are my number one subject because—who doesn’t love a good beach day? I’ve recently gotten into bracelet making (it’s a great hobby to fall back on when I can’t think of new things to paint, and it’s something I can take on an airplane. Layovers have nothing on me!).
Do you have any pets? If so, tell us about them.
I have three beautiful birds, Apollo, Gus, and Starlord. They enjoy Zoom bombing, millet, and being loud.
Which superpower would you like to have?
It probably comes as no surprise that teleportation would be my choice. I could snap my fingers and be in Paris in an instant. Day trip to Tokyo? Sign me up!
What technology do you wish the human race could discover right now?
The ability to colonize Mars and a safe, affordable option for space tourism. If I ever win the lottery, ISS here I come!
