  1. I suggest we begin to re-cognize LIFE as a phenomenon. It includes human life. but is much, much more inclusive, and respecting LIFE while taking seriously our present place within the Biosphere as we approach 8 billion will lead to a different position than simply “protecting the human fetus.” Study the astounding complexity of biology, beyond the reductionism of physics. There is deep continuity among the life processes of all living organisms—and they all DO “strive to stay alive”—that’s what drives evolution. So far, LIFE remains an embarrassingly under-theorized phenomenon. That needs to change.
